Since its formation in 2004, the Aris Quintet from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama has performed a variety of concerts from recitals, most recently at Southwark Cathedral, to chamber workshops at the Wigmore Hall. In 2007, the quintet travelled to Belgium and Holland to perform the World Premiere of a collaborative project for wind quintet, harp and baritone in some of the countries most prestigious music festivals, and performed more standard repertoires in Russia, Turkey, Bulgaria and Ukraine. This prize-winning group play music including Carl Nielsen’s dramatic wind quintet, Samuel Barber’s evocative Summer Music, and the world premiere of a new work by Simon Speare (this season’s audience commission!): "Current progress ... suggests that this piece ... will have spatial and theatrical elements to it.". Also works by Haydn, Hindemith, Ligeti and Ibert Full Programme:
